Reports to:                 Superintendent

Job Goal:                   The Director of curriculum and testing provides leadership and oversight to ensure that areas of curriculum instruction, professional development and the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program, including supplemental instruction, instructional improvement, the development of district level benchmark assessments. The Director works collaboratively across the Western Line School District to ensure program quality and compliance, in all grade levels and subject areas.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Guides development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum and instructional services.
  • Assists in the development and coordination of the sections of the budget that pertain to textbooks and instruction.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in curriculum and instruction, and furnishes leadership in determining their appropriateness for inclusion in the district educational program.
  • Guides development, implementation and evaluation of the district wide professional development program.
  • Works with principals in building and improving staff instructional capacity.
  • Communicates the approved curriculum to the professional staff and maintains a list of approved instructional textbooks and materials.
  • Works with instructional committees in organizing and coordinating grade level and departmental meetings in order to affect horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of the instructional program throughout the district.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Curriculum budget.
  • Provides leadership to ensure understanding of and promote the educational objectives of the district, and plans and administers programs of in-service education activities for instructional personnel.
  • Is involved in the professional growth system at each school, including but not limited to observing teachers, assisting in writing teacher improvement plans, and previewing lesson plans and assessments.
  • Assumes responsibility for reviewing and evaluating results of district-wide testing programs and for other evaluative measures use by the schools.
  • Attends MDE or other relevant training on curriculum or the state-wide assessment program
  • Keeps abreast of the latest rules and regulations in regards to the state-wide assessment program
  • Provides training to school test coordinators, principals, etc. on the state-wide assessment program
  • Works with principal and curriculum interventionist to develop schedules to train and assess all students required by MDE.
  • Acts as a liaison between MDE and the school test coordinators on issues such as materials, testing violations, testing requirements and new procedures related to the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program.
  • Assumes all other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent.
Terms of Employment:         12 Month Position.  Salary to be established by the Board.
