Reports to:                 Superintendent

Job Goal:                   The Director of Federal Programs provides leadership and oversight to ensure that state and federal grant funds related to supplemental instruction, instructional improvement, and professional development are utilized in the most effective way possible to provide assistance to eligible schools and students. The Director works collaboratively across the Western Line School District to ensure program quality and compliance, specifically with Title I, Title II and Title IV funding sources, and with other sources, as they become available, that are intended to supplement the core instructional programs of the district.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Studies all federal legislation, projects, and programs for the possibilities and opportunities they offer for education grants, entitlements, and allocations offered relevant to the needs of the district.
  • Assists the superintendent and professional staff in planning the wise, legal use of federal fund available to the district through various federal programs.
  • Manages, directs, and administers the Title programs (I, II, IV, etc.) including the development of budgets, evaluation of the program, renewal of the grant, and staff performance and development.
  • Attends meetings relevant to Federal Programs at the local and state levels.
  • Directs and monitors district and school levels processes involved with adherence to federal and state laws related to accountability.
  • Monitors school level school improvement plans to meet necessary requirements in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Is familiar with the MCAPS system and successfully navigates it when completing the Federal Programs applications
  • Remains up to date on the functions of the business software, including the requisition system.
  • Supervises needs assessments in the areas required by the federal program guidelines.
  • Collaborates with principals, teachers, and other staff to evaluate program effectiveness, identify areas of need, and identify ways of effectively addressing these needs.
  • Keeps abreast of the latest laws and regulations related to purchasing using Federal funds.
  • Assumes responsibility for writing and amending all federal projects as required by MDE.
  • Complies with and maintains written records and all other such data as may be required and prepares reports as required for evaluating the use of federal funds and determining their effectiveness in meeting district goals.
  • Acts as a liaison between principals and MDE in relation to federal programs.
  • Assumes all other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent.
Terms of Employment:         12 Month Position.  Salary to be established by the Board.
